Climate Status Report for the Canton Basel-Landschaft
The Canton Basel-Landschaft has set a target to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and will make best efforts to prepare for the impacts of climate change.
EBP supported the Canton Basel-Landschaft with the preparation of its Climate Status Report, which covers both greenhouse gas reductions and adaptation to climate change.
The Climate Status Report was developed by EBP based on existing data and through a participative process that included relevant cantonal agencies and external experts.
The canton's future emissions allowance was calculated based on its proposed net-zero reduction pathway and in consideration of its remaining CO2 budget. Together with the cantonal agency representatives, measures were identified for reducing greenhouse gases.
Group interviews and interactive workshops were used to identify the climate change opportunities and risks for the Canton. Subsequently, measures for adapting to climate change were jointly developed.
